Collin Forbes Memorial Bike-In Movie Series #1, “The Bicycle Thief”
April 10 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm| Free
In memory and honor of our friend and local cycling advocate Collin Forbes, we are hosting the inaugural Collin Forbes Memorial Bike-In Movie Series, and we begin with a timeless classic “The Bicycle Thief”
Movie synopsis: The Bicycle Thief (1948) has been heralded as one of the best movies of all time by voices from the New Yorker to the Los Angeles Times. The drama tells the story of Antonio, an impoverished man in post-war Italy who requires a bicycle to do his job, but has his stolen the same day he buys it. He sets out in streets of Rome with his son to track down the thief and retrieve his bike.
If this is your first time joining us for the Bike-In movie series, here’s what to expect: The Estate Collin Forbes donated a completely portable large-screen, outdoor movie set-up that allows us to bike around to different locations around town to show you great bike-themed movies in public places, like parks. Every part of the movie set-up is portable and off the grid.
Can you see the movie? Yes. It is projected on a giant, 11-foot wide screen.
Can you hear the movie? Yes. We bring portable loud speakers.
You will need to bring: a blanket or something comfortable to sit on, snacks (some to share is nice too), and anything else you need to be comfortable.
This is truly a unique, fun, community-minded series of events you won’t want to miss. Tell all your friends and come find the Bike-In movie in a park near you!
Location: Mansfeld Park (2200 N. 4th Ave) – easily accessible by bike along the 4th Ave Bike Boulevard. We’ll be in the NE corner between the tennis courts and swimming pool.
